Osmonix Membrane Cleaners

Lab Services

To support our valued customers and field representatives, Osmonix is equipped with an in-house analytical lab.

To support our valued customers and field representatives, Osmonix is equipped with an in-house analytical lab.

We can quickly and efficiently perform extensive analytical water testing. In addition to a state-of-the-art, inductively-couple plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS), we can run in-house ion chromatography (IC) alongside a wide range of bench-scale tests. Further, Osmonix can perform bench-scale membrane tests and membrane autopsies (complete with FTIR and SEM analysis).
Our comprehensive inventory of In-House analytical capabilities include: ICP-MS Water analysis. Full wet lab for both TDS and TSS analysis. Organic analysis and identification. micro biological screening, microscopic and DNA and identification. Full Destructive and non-destructive membrane analysis. Benchtop and pilot-level screening of all processes, Full Deposit analysis and identification.

Bench-Scale Application Lab

We are also equipped with an in-house application lab-enabling us to test all types of membranes using small volumes of test solution. We can test MF, UF, NF and RO membranes in flat-sheet, spiral, hollow-fiber and tubular configurations. We can also test various pretreatment chemistries and the company’s qualitative applications lab complements our quantitative analytical lab.

Our Bench-Scale Equipment includes: 1812 Spiral test Apparatus (high pressure and low pressure), Flat Cell Test Units (high and low pressure), Hollow Fiber MF/UF/NF Test Units, Tubular Polymeric & ceramic MF/UF/NF Test units, Polymer Membrane Distillation Units.

Membrane Troubleshooting

In addition to supplying capital equipment and servicing existing systems, we provide the following services: Offsite membrane cleaning (2.5-8 diameter spiral elements) at our facilities. Membrane cleaning studies. Destructive membrane autopsies. Accelerated lifecycle testing of new membranes. Benchtop and field testing of membranes in new applications or changing operating conditions.

Membrane autopsies and analysis. Osmonix Membrane Autopsy capabilities are second to none. We start by microscopically analyzing areas of the membrane surface to determine the the nature of fouling. We then run SEM-MS on the fouled areas to determine the exact chemical composition of foulant to help determine the root cause (of fouling). Results can then be used to design a customer chemical solution to address specific problem.

Custom Chemistry.

Clearly identifying the foulant enables osmonix to fully understand both the issue and mechanism. Our team of scientists then go to work to recommend a chemical solution from one of our existing products, or to design a custom product to fit specific needs.
